OceanEast has an immediate opportunity for a Software Developer in Washington DC. The position is insupport of the SEC Division of Economic and Risk Analysis Data Governance initiative.
Position is full-time, work location is 100 F St NE next to Union Station.
Responsibilities:
- One of the tasks is building a data landing page/portal/wiki containing information and resources
on ~200 data sets (currently about ~1.5 PB) resident at the SEC - Portal will eventually have policies, procedures, ETL processes, data access, metadata, training
materials, points of contact - Target audience is business users of the data at the SEC, usually economists who use the data for
research and enforcement personnel who use it in enforcement actions - Objectives of data portal are to help business users: a) Understand what data resources are
available within SEC, b) How to get access to these datasets and interact with them, and, c) Share
knowledge related to data resources
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the following bullet points
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and elements including data quality tools (especially
InfoSphere) - Experience designing similar portals/sites, with an emphasis on end-user friendly design (e.g.,
visually appealing and intuitive designs, search functionality, ease of navigation) - Experience with Java, Python, R, HTML
- Experience working with large structured and unstructured data sets and data storage
environments, especially Oracle, Hadoop, and Netezza - Ability to gather, synthesize and prioritize requirements from multiple stakeholders and user
segments preferred - Experience with HTML5 and CSS preferred
